Hairloss
Treatment
Baldness
and thinning of scalp hair are conditions that affect
almost one-third of all men in this country as well
as some women. Many of the causes of hair loss are reversible.
However, baldness resulting from accidents, operations
and inflammatory or infectious diseases of the scalp
may be permanent. One of the most common types of permanent
hair loss is male pattern baldness. This type of hair
loss is commonly genetically linked to maternal genes.
Hair Transplants
Hair
transplantation is a surgical procedure in which grafts
of hair-bearing skin are taken from the sides or back
of the scalp and transferred to the bald area and or areas of hairloss on head and face. The
hair bearing grafts vary in size from one to two hair
containing grafts called micro grafts; 3 to 5 hair bearing
grafts called mini grafts and traditional punch grafts
containing up to 14 hairs. The patient's type and pattern of hair loss are evaluated. The physician carefully examines both the area from which the grafts are to be taken and the area to receive the grafts to see if they are compatible.
The entire surgical procedure from donor graft harvesting to implantation is done by Dr. Berens. Dr. Berens does not believe in the "Hair transplant factory technique" for his patients. Dr Berens spends the medically necessary time to artistically recreate your natural hairline. Moreover Dr. Berens is skilled at replacement of hair that maybe lost due to facial burns or other facial plastic surgery, ie facelift and brow lift.
