Understanding injectable treatment options
Expression lines, facial volume and a double chin are different concerns. An injectable treatment should follow an assessment of the concern, the proposed product and the treatment area—not a choice made from a brand name alone.
Start with the treatment category
BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport are botulinum toxin products. Dermal fillers are injected materials used for particular contour and volume concerns. Kybella is a separate prescription treatment discussed on the practice’s double-chin page. These categories are not interchangeable. Ask which specific product is proposed and whether its use in that area is approved or off-label.
Plan for the complete course
Bring details of previous injectables, your response and any problems. Ask about the proposed quantity, follow-up, the possibility of further treatment and the full estimate. A photograph can help explain a goal, but another person’s result cannot establish what is appropriate for you.
Questions to bring to your visit
- Which concern are we treating, and why this product?
- What are the product-specific risks and alternatives?
- Who will perform treatment and manage a complication?
- What would make us postpone or decline treatment?
